Pontypridd centre Dafydd Lockyer has been awarded February's Principality Premiership Player of the Month award after an impressive month with his club.

The 26-year-old, 6'3" centre received the award after putting in big performances against Bedwas, Llantrisant and Carmarthan Quins.

Lockyer, who was awarded the Principality Premiership Player of the Year award for the 2010-11 season is delighted to be recognised for his efforts again: "It's always a real shock when you get a call to say you have been singled out for something like this.
"I'm really pleased to have been awarded Principality Player of the Month and hope to continue to play well for Pontypridd so we can move up the table further."

Lockyer first joined Pontypridd from his local club Abercwnboi as a youngster with the Pontypridd Academy in 2001 and moved up to the senior team in 2003.
He moved to inside centre after initially playing on the wing making the big line breaker role his own.

Lockyer was a big part of Ponty's successful Cup campaigns in 2005 and 2006, however a move to Neath followed in the summer of 2007. He then featured in Neath's double championship winning team, even though his time at Neath was troubled with injuries.
Lockyer returned to Pontypridd for the 2009-10 season and won the Principality Premiership player of the Year Award for the 2010-11 season.

Andrew Clark, Branch Manager at Principality in Pontypridd, said: "Our warmest congratulations to Dafydd Lockyer of Pontypridd on winning February's Player of the Month Award. Dafydd joins more than 30 players to have won the Principality Player of the Month Award, including international stars, Sam Warburton and Jamie Roberts, proving that the Premiership truly is the breeding ground for the future of Welsh rugby. We wish him and the team all the best for the future."
