20.1.2003 Jinx joins Ponty casualty list
[icWales] NEIL Jenkins will miss Wales' first two Six Nations matches after breaking his thumb in Pontypridd's Parker Pen Cup victory over Connacht on Saturday, writes Simon Thomas.
The 31-year-old British Lion, who scored all the points in his side's 12-9 quarter-final second-leg win, will be out of action for between four to six weeks.
This means he will be unavailable for the opening championship fixtures against Italy in Rome (February 15) and at home to England (February 22).
Jenkins had been a strong contender to be involved in those games, probably as back-up to Llanelli's Stephen Jones.
His injury comes as a further body blow to Ponty, who are already without their two first-choice centres, Sonny Parker (broken forearm) and Jonny Bryant (hamstring).
The Sardis Road side will meet Wasps in the Parker Pen semi-finals in April after beating Connacht 47-39 on aggregate.
