Injury update

Following a long period without any injury woes, Pontypridd now have a casualty list to tend to, some more serious than others.

Playing hard games on hard grounds, and plenty of them, it was inevitable that the business end of the season would bring with it some fresh injuries.

The two main causes for concern amongst the Ponty squad are fellow back rowers Chris Dicomidis and Jake Thomas.

Club skipper Dicomidis suffered ankle ligament damage in the recent away win at Crosskeys, with fears that he may miss the remainder of the season. On a positive note 'Dico' has already had the plaster removed from his left leg, but will now require complete rest over the next two weeks before further scans will determine his rate of improvement. The hope is that he may return for one or two of the last fixtures of the campaign into the month of May.

Flanker Jake Thomas has suffered shoulder ligament damage, being an injury which has deteriorated over the past months. Treatment and further diagnosis is required, but with the outlook that an early end to the player’s season might be the best policy, ensuring a complete recovery in time for the next winter’s campaign.

Hooker Kristian Dacey recently suffered a shoulder injury whilst on duty with the Blues senior squad. A combination of rest and treatment have worked well, with the player hopeful of being declared fit within the next week.

Minor injuries have been picked up over the past week by flankers Wayne O’Connor, with a calf strain, and Ed Siggery with a bruised shoulder. Both have been receiving intensive treatment and are hopeful of being in contention for the SWALEC Cup semi final against Swansea next Saturday.

Another who could be in line for a comeback in that game is winger Owen Williams, who is back up and running after suffering a recent calf strain.
