Injury update

The Pontypridd squad emerged from last weekend’s home defeat against Llandovery with not only their egos bruised but carrying a few physical injuries to boot.

An early casualty was captain Dafydd Lockyer who limped off after turning on his ankle (pictured). The joint will be scanned this week to assess the extent of the damage done and of the healing process.

Three others who departed hurt were winger Alex Webber and lock Josh Hawkins both with hamstring strains and flanker Jake Thomas with a broken nose. All will again be assessed by the club medical team this week.

Hooker Huw Dowden was rested last weekend having twinged a calf muscle in the recent away win at Neath, and hopeful of reporting back fit for action this week.

Previously injured, but making good progress in recovery, are full back Geraint Walsh, prop Jon Elley and flanker Rhys Shellard, all with back strains, and flanker Ross Morgan with a hamstring strain. All four have resumed training and expected to be back in contention within the next week or two.

Already back playing, having recovered from a broken hand, is full back Joseph Williams who has had recent game time for Ynysybwl.
