Injury update

The Pontypridd squad has benefitted, in terms of recovery from injuries, from having almost a month off from competitive action.

Some of the club’s long term absentees are now close to achieving full fitness with a previously lengthy injury list almost wiped out.

Three players have been sidelined with fractured hands but all now resuming training and hopeful of being in line for a return by the end of February. Flanker Jake Thomas, having recovered from a knee operation, was unlucky to break a bone in his hand when playing for his local club Ynysybwl. Full back Joseph Williams and lock Shay Smallman have also had their hands in plaster.

Hooker Huw Dowden (pictured above) is back training after time out with an achilles tendon strain and could be in contention for the Llanelli home game on Friday evening.

Two longer term absentees, full back Lloyd Rowlands and prop Will Davies-King who were out with shoulder and ankle injuries, are now both back in training, ready to resume full contact work and looking at weeks rather than months recovery time.
