Biography:

Brecon born, and having played for the town's youth team, Sam Hobbs was picked up by the Blues regional development programme, gaining honours at under 20 level.

Offering a huge physical presence as a front row anchorman, Sam was recommended to Pontypridd, and still only eighteen years of age, made a debut for the Sardis Road team in a pre-season friendly against Carmarthen. Sam was duly drafted into the Pontypridd senior squad for the commencement of the 2006 - 2007 premiership campaign.

His first season marred by injuries, Sam fought his way back into contention with Pontypridd, continuing to represent the Blues under 20s, and gaining honours with Wales at the same age level.

Continuing with an impressive run of performances in the Premiership, and as one of the club's top try scorers, Sam was given his opportunity as a senior Blues player towards the end of the 2008 - 2009 campaign.
