Bedwas boy Viv Thomas progressed through the youth ranks of his local club and neighbouring Caerphilly.
Playing in the centre position, Viv joined up with Pontypridd in 1982 and went on to make 23 senior appearances, scoring six tries, before making a return to Bedwas.
