Isaacs, Iorwerth

Cilfynydd born Iorwerth ‘Iorrie’ Isaacs was a Welsh dual-code international flanker. At club level he played rugby union for Cilfynydd, Cardiff, Glamorgan Police, Pontypridd and Penarth and later rugby league for Wales, and Leeds.

Isaacs won his two Wales senior caps during the 1933 Home Nations Championship, his debut coming in a famous win over England at Twickenham.

At the start of the 1933/34 season Isaacs left rugby union behind when he ‘Went North’ switching to the professional rugby league game, joining Leeds RLFC.
