A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM HEAD COACH JUSTIN

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE HEAD COACH

Well, we’re half-way there (there’s a song in there, somewhere…) and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas (and there’s another one…!) If someone had offered me a Christmas present in pre-season of being second from the top and trailing by only two points, having scored the most points and tries to date in the league, I would have said ‘Yes, Please!’. Well, thanks to the hard work of all of the players, coaching staff, board, sponsors and the amazing support that we get week in week out, that’s exactly where we are!

This season has seen a number of new faces in our match day squad. They have included Smithy, Clarky, Bobby, Pudding, Lloyd Evs, Rhodri, Steff, Huw, Dai, Lewis K, Gabe and Dafydd. These boys have joined us and immediately bought into the Ponty way – never give up! Let’s not forget the appearance of an old Ponty head, Smiler.  How good was it to see him returning to fitness last weekend putting the Ponty No.2 shirt on! It was also fantastic to see TJ making his debut for Pontypridd RFC.

Our partners, USW and Cardiff Blues have also played a massive part in our success to date.  We have used twelve USW students and ten Cardiff Blues Academy/Senior players.  We are very grateful to both USW and Cardiff Blues for their continued support.

A highlight for me this season was seeing Daf make his 350th appearance last week.  I first signed Daf as a 15 year old back in the Just Rental days. A low point for me has to be the plight of Neath RFC.  As a former player, I feel for everyone involved and hope that they can maintain their status.

Thank you again for being our 16th man, and I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
