As well as the official website, Pontypridd RFC also operates a hugely popular Facebook page, along with a handful of other social networking strands, and has seen some serious activity over the past few days.
Between October 12 and November 12 2009, www.ponty.net received over 95,000 pageviews, with the average site user spending nearly 4 minutes browsing the website (a statistic that's relatively unheard of). A term has even been coined to describe the kind of following our official site recieves: "stickiness"; and there are thousands of websites online proclaiming to offer advice on making your website "sticky".
A recent development in online promotion is the advent of Facebook pages, i.e. dedicated areas of the Facebook social network built to provide 'fans' of a product with a place to share their thought, views and content (be it photos or videos). We caught on to this web sensation early on, and our official Facebook page now has over 1,700 fans, and is rapidly picking up more as the days go by.
Yesterday saw us - through fan interaction at various times of the day - pick up our biggest hits yet, with 1,067 fans clicking on to our Facebook page.
We also stream updates from both www.ponty.net and the Facebook page to our Twitter feed by way of RSS (see here for more on RSS!), which in turn generates more 'hits' to both sites, with people clicking links in our 'Tweets' to discover more.
It's in our interest to pull people towards www.ponty.net, as we're always looking for potential partnerships, and a successful website is a big part of any investment deal. And with our award-winning team management, table-topping squad, relaunched partnership packages brochure, and a dedicated Marketing team, Pontypridd RFC is ready to tackle anything!
