Bundy, Sean

Beddau-born Sean Bundy began his career with Beddau mini rugby in 1980 at the age of seven. He continued to play for Beddau as well as District sides until the age of 24, when he signed for Pontypridd. At 6'6", Sean was an easy pick for second row but he was adapted into flanker and number 8, being an all rounder he was a good kicker at goal too.

Sean joined Pontypridd in August 1997, where he was in admiration of his coaches, Dennis John and Lynn Howells. Sean played alongside 1990's luminaries such as Martyn Williams, Dale McIntosh, Neil Jenkins, Kevin Morgan, Gareth Wyatt, Dafydd James and Paul John.

Sean was selected as man of the match by Paul Rees, Chief Rugby writer for The Wales on Sunday when Ponty faced Ebbw Vale in the Premier League.

Sean was an apprentice at the Royal Mint and took an engineering degree at The University of Glamorgan, from where he graduated with honors. He then moved on to become an Aeronautical Engineer with Nordam Europe.

Due to job commitments at Nordam he left Pontypridd in May 1998, but continued playing for Beddau on a noncommited basis, where he helped them to move up to Division One in the league.

Sean moved to Brisbane, Australia with his wife Sarah, children Elise and Megan, while their son Joshua was born in Australia.

The family have now become Australian citizens.
