[icWales] JON Bryant was today waiting to discover the extent of the hamstring injury that has ruled him out of tomorrow's crunch European clash with Connacht.

The Pontypridd centre was due to have a scan today after limping out of the first leg victory in Ireland last Saturday.

The blow came just moments after team-mate Sonny Parker suffered a broken arm and has left coach Lynn Howells with a midfield dilemma for the return Parker Pen quarter-final game tomorrow.

But unlike Wales three-quarter Parker, Bryant is hoping to solve that problem by the end of the month and has already pencilled the Welsh Premiership encounter with Caerphilly on February 1 for his comeback.

"I'm keeping everything crossed that there will be good news after the scan," said Bryant.

"It's obviously frustrating but hopefully it will not be too long until I'm back.

"My hamstring has already been feeling a lot better this week.

"So hopefully I will be able to play against Caerphilly in two week's time."

It has been a frustrating season so far for the Wales A centre who has been beset by injuries all season.

Bryant was forced to sit out two games after straining his calf out in Rome only to dislocate his shoulder on his return against Neath in the Celtic League quarter-final.

"They always say rugby players have a season when they struggle with niggling injuries and this seems to be mine," said Bryant.

"Hopefully I've now had my share of problems for this season."
