The Millennium Stadium was the scene on Tuesday night as the draw for the inaugural British and Irish Cup competition was made.

Commencing November 2009 - during the Autumn international window, with the finals to be played during the Six Nations period in 2010 - Pontypridd RFC will face the likes of Rotherham Titans, Doncaster Knights and Cardiff in the quest for the new trophy.

With both home and away trips on the cards, this new challenge will see a return of the 'cross-border' adventures of old.

There are some exciting times ahead for the Valley Commandos!

Pontypridd are placed in Pool D, which reads as follows:

  • Ayr RFC
  • Birmingham & Solihull Bees
  • Cardiff
  • Doncaster Knights
  • Pontypridd
  • Rotherham Titans 

Pontypridd's draw for the 2009/10 British and Irish Cup competition reads as follows (dates and home/away placings TBC):

  • Weekend of 7th November: Pontypridd vs ?
  • Weekend of 28th November: Pontypridd vs ?
  • Weekend of 13th February: Pontypridd vs ?
  • Weekend of 27th February: Pontypridd vs ?
  • Weekend of 6th March: Pontypridd vs ? 
  • Weekend of 24th April: Semi-Finals
