The quarter final draw of the British & Irish Cup had ensured that there would be English, Welsh and Irish representation going forward to the semi final round, with three of the four ties being ‘inter-national’ affairs.
On Friday evening it was Munster A who claimed victory away against compatriots Ulster Ravens by 9pts to 20. Outside half Deasy was the hero for Munster, scoring a try, two conversions and two penalties.
On Saturday Cross Keys took the honours in a Welsh derby match against Llanelli, winning comfortably by 32pts to 8 in front of the S4C cameras.
An all-England tie on Sunday was clinched by former BIC champions Cornish Pirates, who notched up five tries as they ran out 33pts to 3 winners against Nottingham Rugby.
Leinster A rounded off the weekend with a comprehensive home win over Pontypridd by 32pts to 0.
The draw for the semi final round of the British & Irish Cup will be made on Sunday 29th January.
