The round of BIC ties played over the weekend of 10th December did not prove to be a productive one for the Welsh clubs participating, the only victory coming to Cross Keys in a ‘derby’ match against Neath.

The Keys maintained their impressive 100% record in the competition this season by trouncing the All Blacks 45pts to 18 with six tries to their credit.

Aberavon lost narrowly away to Melrose by 9pts to 8 with Pontypridd suffering a similar fate, an agonising one point loss away to Ulster Ravens by 17pts to 16.

Swansea, still without a win in the competition, lost heavily at home to Currie by 21pts to 38 whilst Munster A fought out a low scoring home victory over Ayr by 9pts to 3.

On Sunday, Llanelli rounded off the disappointing Welsh weekend by conceding at home to Leinster A by 13pts to 19.

Despite their defeat at Ulster, Pontypridd consolidated top position in pool 5 of the British & Irish Cup, one point ahead of Doncaster and with a superior points difference. The final game of the qualifying stage, at home to Leeds on Saturday 17th December, will be a "must win" contest for Ponty to ensure their progression to the quarter final draw.
