Pontypridd will welcome experienced scrum half Carl Thomas back into their ranks for the 2012 – 2013 campaign.
The Llantwit Fardre product, popularly known as “Lion”, first joined up with Ponty in 2003. A two season spell at Sardis Road saw Thomas making 39 appearances, vying at the time for the scrum half position with current assistant coach Paul John and the late Gareth Jones.
Carl Thomas then returned to Llantwit Fardre, also having a brief spell with neighbouring club Beddau. His links with Pontypridd were maintained, called up to play on permit for the club as required.
A seven year stint playing consistently at Division One level has given “Lion” a solid grounding of experience as he now returns to the Ponty ranks.
Recognised as a physical and abrasive operator as a link between forwards and backs, and with an effective kicking game, both tactically and in aiming at goal, Thomas will be a welcome addition to the Pontypridd squad for the season to come.
