The major works required to extinguish an underground fire at the Taff Vale Park – home of the Pontypridd RFC Mini & Juniors – is now nearing completion.
Club officials have been meeting on a regular basis with council representatives as the work has progressed. All training and all public access at the ground has in the meantime been banned, causing a major headache for the Mini & Juniors coaches and parents.
The underground fire has by now been isolated and capped, with a consultant’s report pending before permission is given to resume use of the ground.
It is hoped that the area excavated by council operatives will in the future, with the assistance of RCT Council, be developed into an ‘all weather’ training pitch which will greatly enhance the standard of the Taff Vale Park base.
A case, for Pontypridd RFC, of all being well that ends well.
