A boyhood dream for Ponty boy Cory Hill has become reality as the young Blues Academy and Wales under 18 lock will be allocated to his local club for the forthcoming season.
Maesycoed born and bred, Cory has been a fervent Ponty supporter since his childhood days, and represented the club throughout all age grades up to under 15 level.
His huge potential as a hard grafting lock forward was rewarded with Wales caps at under 16 and under 18 levels, and an allocation to the Blues Age Grade system.
The dream of representing the club which he supported throughout the years became reality for Cory on 21st April 2010 when he was called up to make his senior debut for Pontypridd in a league game against Llanelli. He duly put in a storming performance and scored two tries in the process.
"It was always an ambition to play for Ponty" said Cory "as I have supported the club since I can remember, going to watch all the games with my father.
"It was an unbelievable experience, taking to the field against Llanelli on my debut and running out into the Sardis Road atmosphere. I was thinking to myself – only last week I was on the terraces myself shouting on the team and now I'm playing for them – it was unreal."
That opportunity will come along far more frequently for Cory as he has been tied in to the Pontypridd squad for the 2010 – 2011 season as one of the club’s allocation of Blues Academy players.
